Privacy policy

This privacy policy applies to NINA's websites. The policy contains information about how we collect and use information about you as a visitor on our websites. The declaration has been developed so that you can feel confident that NINA processes personal data in a safe manner.

1. Web Analytics

We use the analysis tool Plausible to find out how visitors use our websites so that we can optimize the user experience. Plausible does not use cookies, and they do not track, collect and store any personal data. You can read more about their privacy focus here: https://plausible.io/privacy-focused-web-analytics. All data is stored in Europe and complies with the GDPR and Schrems II regulations.

2. Sharing on social networks

The "Share with others" function can be used to share the content on social networks. Information about this  is not logged by us, but is only used there and then to share the tip with the online community. However, we cannot guarantee that the online community does not log this information. All such services should therefore be used wisely.

3. Email

All e-mail sent to NINA is initially stored on our e-mail server. E-mails to firmapost@nina.no are reviewed and possibly forwarded to relevant recipients, and are then deleted from this mailbox no later than one year after receipt.

4. Newsletters

The website can send out newsletters via e-mail if you have registered to receive this. In order for us to be able to send e-mails, you must register an e-mail address. The e-mail address is stored in a separate database, is not shared with others and is deleted when you cancel the subscription. In order for you to receive newsletters from us, you must first verify that the e-mail address is yours. There is always an unsubscribe link in the e-mails we send out.

5. Registration forms

The websites may have forms for ordering publications or books, registering for courses, seminars or conferences or various other forms. Normally, we then ask for

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Optionally, your institutional affiliation
  • Optionally, your phone number

This information is not used for other purposes than that for which the form was prepared, and all personal information will be deleted when it is no longer needed, or within one year at the latest.

6. Site functionality

NINA's websites make use of cookies to some extent, which means that the website remembers previous user settings made on the page, such as the selected language. For services that require logging in or searching, cookies may be used to ensure that the service presents data to the correct recipient.

7. How to handle cookies in your browser

Most modern browsers (Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Opera, etc.) are set to accept cookies automatically. If you wish to disable cookies for your browser, you can do this via your browser's security settings.
